ASME B16.10 Face-to-Face Quick Reference
Technical reference · Supreme Valves India · Updated 2026-10-28
Direct answer: Face-to-face must match the piping gap. Use ASME B16.10 for flanged gate, globe and check valves in ASME classes. Values below are common Class 150 / 300 lengths in mm — confirm against the current B16.10 edition and the valve datasheet before cutting pipe.
Class 150 flanged — typical F-F (mm)
| NPS | Gate | Globe | Swing check |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2 | 178 | 203 | 203 |
| 3 | 203 | 241 | 241 |
| 4 | 229 | 292 | 292 |
| 6 | 267 | 406 | 356 |
| 8 | 292 | 495 | 495 |
| 10 | 330 | 622 | 622 |
| 12 | 356 | 698 | 698 |
Class 300 lengths are longer for many sizes — do not interchange Class 150 and Class 300 face-to-face. Butterfly and ball valves use other standards (API 609, ASME B16.10 ball categories, EN 558).

Frequently asked questions
Can I use EN 558 instead of B16.10?
Only if the piping is designed to EN face-to-face series. Mixing EN and ASME lengths on a replacement job causes piping rework.
Do forged Class 800 SW valves use B16.10?
Socket-weld and threaded forged valves follow manufacturer / API 602 end-to-end dimensions, not flanged B16.10 tables.
Why must I re-check the datasheet?
Casting pattern series and manufacturer long/short patterns can differ. B16.10 is the baseline; the PO datasheet governs.
