Fire-Safe vs Soft-Seat Ball Valve
Soft-seat (PTFE / RPTFE) floating balls suit clean utility and chemical on/off isolation. Hydrocarbon and many plant fire-case specs require API 607 fire-safe construction — secondary metal seating and fire-tested stem sealing. Specifying fire-safe when not required adds cost; omitting it on a fire-case line fails the datasheet.
