Duplex Strainer
A duplex strainer provides continuous filtration by using two basket chambers connected via a common changeover valve. One basket remains in service while the other is isolated for cleaning, ensuring uninterrupted operation for critical processes.
How It Works
- Dual baskets allow online cleaning by switching the flow from the clogged basket to the clean one.
- Changeover valve (three-way/plug or butterfly arrangement) diverts flow without stopping the pump.
- Differential pressure across the basket indicates fouling; plan cleaning before excessive ΔP increases energy costs.
Typical Applications
- Pumps protection in water, seawater, glycol, and utilities.
- Process fluids with suspended solids where uptime is critical.
- Upstream of control valves, heat exchangers, and meters.
Material Options
- Carbon Steel (WCB) for general service.
- SS304/SS316/SS316L for corrosion resistance and hygienic utilities.
- SS904L or Duplex for aggressive chloride service.
