Strainer Types Overview
1. Y-Type Strainer
The Y-Type strainer is the simplest and most common type of industrial strainer. Its body is shaped like the letter Y, with a screening element positioned in the flow path at an angle. This design provides effective filtration with minimal pressure drop.
2. Pot Strainer
Pot strainers feature an enclosed vessel design with a cylindrical body that contains the screening element. They are particularly suitable for steam and gas applications where the large volume of the pot helps separate moisture and particulates.
3. Basket Strainer
Basket strainers utilize a large basket-shaped screen that provides significantly larger filtration area compared to Y-type strainers. The side entry design allows for easy access and cleaning without disconnecting the pipeline.
4. Duplex Strainer
Duplex strainers feature two basket chambers connected via a changeover valve. This unique design allows one basket to remain in service while the other is isolated for cleaning, enabling continuous operation without process shutdown.
