Industrial Applications & Engineering Problem Solving

The Engineering Challenge

Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) in refineries, offshore rigs, and chemical plants require safety-critical loops to work 100% of the time. However, automated valves left static for long periods can seize due to sticky packing or actuator degradation. In a refinery emergency, standard actuators can fail, leading to catastrophic plant disasters. Gathering safety certifications from different manufacturers is a documentation bottleneck.

The Supreme Valves Engineering Solution

We supply complete, pre-assembled, and pre-tested SIL 2 / PED Module H Certified Valve Packages. Every component (API 6D ball or API 600 gate valve, spring-return scotch yoke actuator, SIL 3 solenoid, smart positioner) is integrated and certified by independent safety bodies. Features Partial Stroke Testing (PST) to test the assembly online, extending safety inspection intervals up to 5 years.

Operational Use Cases & Scenarios

Petrochemical Refineries & Alkylation Units

Emergency Shutdown (ESD) Systems

Operational Challenge: Ensuring a critical refinery feed isolation valve will close in <1 second during a fire event, even after sitting idle for years.

Engineering Benefit: Independent SIL 2 system certification ensures functional safety, while PST diagnostics prove mechanical readiness.

High Integrity Pressure Protection Systems (HIPPS)

High-Pressure Gas Wellhead Protection Skids

Operational Challenge: Protecting downstream low-pressure processing loops from offshore wellhead over-pressure spikes using high-reliability isolation.

Engineering Benefit: Spring-return scotch yoke actuator provides fail-safe closing, and PED Module H compliance guarantees structural pressure limits.

Features & Benefits

SIL 2 System Certified

The entire assembly (valve, actuator, and solenoids) is certified by independent safety bodies to meet IEC 61508 SIL 2 safety levels.

PED Module H Certified

Fully compliant with European Pressure Equipment Directive (PED) Module H, ensuring high-quality pressure boundaries.

Spring-Return Fail-Safe

High-tension spring actuator forces the valve to snap shut in under 1 second upon loss of signal or pneumatic pressure.

Partial Stroke Testing

Equipped with smart digital positioners to test 10% of the valve stroke online without interrupting process flow, ensuring no mechanical jam.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q What is the difference between SIL 2 and SIL 3?

SIL stands for Safety Integrity Level. SIL 2 represents a Probability of Failure on Demand (PFD) between 1 in 100 and 1 in 1000. SIL 3 is 1 in 1000 to 1 in 10,000. By combining two SIL 2 valves in a redundant 1oo2 hookup, a SIL 3 safety rating is achieved.

Q What is Partial Stroke Testing (PST)?

PST moves the valve plug by 10-15% and returns it to open. This tests the valve mechanism for sticky packing or mechanical jams without interrupting refinery flow, extending safety inspection intervals from 1 year to up to 5 years.

Q Do you provide full safety calculations?

Yes. Every SIL-rated assembly is shipped with full Functional Safety Assessment reports, PFD calculations, and certificates for the valve, actuator, and solenoid package.
