Why Forged Steel Valves?

Forged steel valves are manufactured from solid billets rather than castings, resulting in a denser, more uniform grain structure with superior mechanical properties. The forging process eliminates porosity, shrinkage, and inclusions that can occur in castings. This makes forged valves the preferred choice for high-pressure, high-temperature, and critical service applications where reliability is paramount. Per API 602, forged valves cover sizes up to NPS 4 (DN100) and pressure classes from 800 to 4500.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between forged and cast valves?
Forged valves are made from solid metal billets compressed under extreme pressure, creating a dense, uniform grain structure. Cast valves are made by pouring molten metal into molds. Forged valves have superior mechanical properties (higher tensile/yield strength), better fatigue resistance, and are free from casting defects. They are preferred for high-pressure, small-bore applications (typically up to 4").
What does Class 800 mean for forged valves?
Class 800 is a pressure rating specific to forged valves per API 602. It falls between Class 600 and Class 1500 in terms of pressure-temperature ratings. Class 800 is the most common rating for forged valves in general industrial service. The equivalent pressure at ambient temperature is approximately 138 bar (2000 PSI).
Can forged valves be supplied in exotic alloys?
Yes. We manufacture forged valves in F304, F316, F321 (stainless steels), F11/F22 (chrome-moly), F51 (Duplex 2205), F53 (Super Duplex 2507), F44 (6Mo), Monel (F400), Inconel (F625), and Hastelloy (F276). All with full material certification and NACE compliance where required.
Do you supply IBR approved forged valves?
Yes. We manufacture IBR certified forged steel valves per IS 1780 and API 602 for boiler and steam applications. Available in A105 and alloy steel grades. Supplied with IBR Form III-C, material test certificates, and authorized inspector stamps.
