What API 602 covers
API 602 is the compact steel gate, globe and check valve standard for sizes typically NPS ½–4 (extended to NPS 2½–4 for some designs). Unlike API 600 cast steel gates, API 602 valves are usually forged (A105, A105N, F11, F22, F316) with a shorter face-to-face and higher pressure classes (Class 800 is the most common screwed / SW rating).

What is the difference between API 600 and API 602 gate valves?
API 600 covers cast steel flanged and BW gates typically NPS 2 and above. API 602 covers compact forged gates for smaller lines, usually Class 800 SW or NPT.
What does Class 800 mean on a forged gate valve?
ASME Class 800 is the common pressure class for forged screwed and socket-weld valves. Cold working pressure is about 138 bar (2000 psi) for A105 at ambient; derate with temperature per B16.34.
Full bore or reduced bore?
Reduced (standard) bore is the API 602 default and costs less. Specify full bore when pigging, minimum pressure drop or matching ID to the pipe is required.
Can API 602 gates be IBR stamped?
Yes. State IBR on the RFQ for boiler steam and feedwater service in India; Form III-C is issued with the lot.
Which trim should I order?
