What is a Pressure Seal Valve?

A pressure seal valve uses internal pressure to enhance the body-bonnet seal — as internal pressure increases, the sealing force increases proportionally. Unlike bolted-bonnet designs where gasket loading decreases with temperature cycling, pressure seal bonnets become tighter at higher pressures. This makes them the standard choice for high-pressure, high-temperature service in power generation, refining, and petrochemical plants.

Frequently Asked Questions

When should I use pressure seal vs bolted bonnet valves?
Pressure seal bonnets are recommended for Class 600 and above (typically mandatory from Class 900). Below Class 600, bolted bonnet is standard and more economical. The crossover point depends on size and temperature — for high-temperature service (>400°C), pressure seal may be preferred even in Class 600.
What is the maximum temperature for pressure seal valves?
WCB bodies: up to 425°C. WC6 (1.25Cr-0.5Mo): up to 540°C. WC9 (2.25Cr-1Mo): up to 593°C. For supercritical applications, F91/F92 grades handle up to 620°C. All with Stellite 6 trim for high-temperature erosion resistance.
Do you manufacture pressure seal valves for power plants?
Yes. Power plant valves are our core strength. We supply pressure seal gate, globe, and check valves for main steam, hot reheat, cold reheat, feed water, and extraction lines. Available with MOV/gear operators, bypass valves, and drain connections per power plant specifications.
Can pressure seal valves be supplied with NACE compliance?
Yes. We manufacture NACE MR0175 compliant pressure seal valves in LCB/LCC bodies with controlled hardness (≤22 HRC) for sour gas service in high-pressure upstream oil & gas applications.
