Moisture Separator
Supreme Valves supplies the moisture separator (steam moisture separator / steam separator) in ASTM A216 Grade WCB for boiler steam lines, PRV upstream protection and process steam headers. Centrifugal / baffle internals knock out entrained condensate so downstream turbines, control valves and heat exchangers see drier steam.
Why install a steam moisture separator
Wet steam carries water droplets that erode turbine blades, water-hammer lines and damage seats on PRVs and control valves. A WCB moisture separator on the steam main, upstream of critical equipment, removes free moisture and drains it through a trap set. Buyers searching for steam separator manufacturer India or boiler moisture separator typically specify flanged WCB vessels matched to line size and design pressure.

Steam moisture separator on boiler and process lines
A steam moisture separator is installed where steam quality matters — upstream of pressure-reducing stations, turbines, coil banks and process consumers. Entrained condensate is thrown out of the steam path by baffles or centrifugal action and drained through a trap set. The continuing steam is drier, which reduces erosion, water hammer and seat damage on downstream valves.
ASTM A216 WCB bodies match carbon-steel steam mains used across Indian boiler houses and process plants. Flange rating must match the steam class (typically Class 150 or 300). Drain connections should be sized for the expected condensate load and paired with a suitable steam trap and strainer.

Sizing notes for RFQ
Provide line size, design pressure, design temperature, saturated or superheated condition, and approximate mass flow if available. If the separator is part of an IBR steam system, declare IBR so documentation routes are planned. Supreme Valves responds with a configuration and firm commercial offer — no public INR rate table.
Typical applications
- Boiler steam main upstream of PRV and distribution
- Turbine and engine steam inlet protection
- Process steam headers in chemicals, food and textiles
- Compressed air and gas drying (separator style on request)
How to enquire (RFQ checklist)
- Line size, design pressure and temperature
- Steam condition (saturated / superheated) and flow rate if known
- Flange standard and rating
- Drain trap preference and capacity
- IBR / third-party inspection requirement
- Quantity and delivery location

FAQ
What is a steam moisture separator?
A vessel installed in a steam line that uses baffles or centrifugal action to separate entrained water droplets from steam. Condensate is drained through a trap; drier steam continues downstream.
Why WCB for moisture separators?
ASTM A216 WCB matches typical carbon-steel steam piping and boiler plant metallurgy for non-corrosive steam service within allowable temperature limits.
Is a separator the same as a steam trap?
No. The separator knocks out bulk moisture from flowing steam. A steam trap removes condensate from drip legs and heat exchangers. Both are usually used together.
Do you supply IBR documentation?
Where the separator falls under boiler regulations, IBR-related documentation and stamping can be arranged — state this clearly on the RFQ.
