WCB Swing Check Valve
Supreme Valves manufactures the WCB swing check valve (swing check NRV) in ASTM A216 Grade WCB to BS 1868 / API 6D practice. Bolted cover, Class 150–600 flanged RF. The hinged disc opens with forward flow and closes to stop reverse flow on pump discharge, steam and process headers.
Why specify a WCB swing check NRV
Swing check valves are the classic full-bore non-return design for horizontal (and many vertical) lines where low pressure drop matters. BS 1868 covers steel check valves; API 6D covers pipeline check valves. ASTM A216 WCB bodies suit non-corrosive oil, gas, steam and water service within B16.34 limits.

BS 1868 / API 6D swing check NRV in WCB
The WCB swing check valve provides full-bore non-return protection with a hinged disc. On forward flow the disc lifts; on reverse flow it seats and protects pumps, compressors and boilers from backflow. BS 1868 is the familiar industrial steel check standard; API 6D is cited on pipeline and piggable systems. Both are quoted to the client datasheet.
Slam can occur on sudden pump trips. Outside lever and weight assemblies, or dashpots, damp the closure. Where face-to-face length is critical between flanges, evaluate a dual-plate wafer check as an alternative — see swing check NRV hub and dual-plate product pages.

What is a WCB swing check valve?

Swing checks are full-bore and common on larger lines. Dual-plate wafer checks are shorter and reduce slam on many pump trips. Selection depends on layout, slam risk and face-to-face constraints.
Can swing checks be installed vertically?
Some designs allow upward flow in vertical lines. Confirm disc and hinge suitability on the RFQ — do not assume every swing check is vertical-safe.
