Why Choose Titanium Valves?

Titanium offers the highest strength-to-weight ratio of any structural metal with outstanding resistance to seawater, chlorides, and oxidizing acids. Grade 2 is the workhorse for chemical service; Grade 5 (Ti-6Al-4V) provides superior strength for high-pressure applications.

Available Grades

  • Titanium Grade 2 (UNS R50400)
  • Titanium Grade 5 / Ti-6Al-4V (UNS R56400)

Frequently Asked Questions

Why use titanium valves in desalination plants?
Titanium Grade 2 has virtually zero corrosion rate in seawater at all temperatures encountered in desalination (up to 120°C). Unlike super duplex or cupronickel, titanium is immune to pitting, crevice corrosion, and microbiologically influenced corrosion (MIC) in chlorinated seawater.
Are titanium valves lighter than steel valves?
Yes. Titanium has a density of 4.51 g/cm³ versus 7.85 g/cm³ for carbon steel — about 43% lighter for the same volume. This is especially valuable for offshore platforms and shipboard installations where weight savings reduce structural costs.
What is the maximum operating temperature for titanium valves?
Titanium Grade 2 valves can operate up to 315°C (600°F). Grade 5 (Ti-6Al-4V) extends to 400°C (750°F). Above these temperatures, titanium loses strength and may react with oxygen. For higher temperatures, consider Inconel or Hastelloy.
Can you supply titanium valves per Saudi Aramco standards?
Yes. We manufacture titanium valves compliant with SAES-L-008, SAES-L-133, and SAMSS specifications. Supplied with full material traceability, EN 10204 3.1 MTCs, and optional SABER certification for import into Saudi Arabia.
