Large Bore Pipeline Ball Valve — 24 inch & 48 inch API 6D
Trunnion-mounted full-bore API 6D ball valve for crude oil pipelines, SPM offshore jetty systems, and gas transmission. 24 inch to 48 inch, Class 150–300, ASTM A105N / A694 F65 body, Alloy 625 seat overlay, DEVLON V soft seats, MOV electric actuated, NACE MR0175, fire safe API 607. DDP supply to Indian jetty and port sites.
Large bore pipeline ball valves in the 24 inch to 48 inch range are specialised products requiring experienced manufacturing, NDT capability, and third-party inspection. The trunnion-mounted design — mandatory above 12 inch in most pipeline specifications — transfers line thrust loads to the body through upper and lower trunnion bearings, keeping the seats pressure-energised but not bearing the full line load. This results in predictable, low operating torque even at maximum differential pressure, making MOV (motor operated valve) actuation reliable across the life of the installation. Supreme Valves India sources and supplies large bore pipeline ball valves to Indian port operators, EPCM contractors, and offshore project developers, with full TPI witness and documentation package.

Frequently Asked Questions
What are typical lead times for a 48 inch API 6D ball valve?
Large bore API 6D ball valves in the 24–48 inch range typically have manufacturing lead times of 20–36 weeks, depending on body material, pressure class, and actuator scope. ASTM A105N or WCB in Class 150 or 300 are the most readily available; exotic alloy bodies may add 4–8 weeks for material procurement. TPI witness and documentation completion add 2–4 weeks. Early placement with confirmed valve data sheet is recommended to hold delivery slots.
What TPI is available for large bore MOV ball valves?
All large bore pipeline ball valves can be inspected by approved TPI agencies including Bureau Veritas (BV), TUV Rheinland, Lloyd's Register (LR), SGS, and DNV. Witness points typically include material receiving inspection, NDT (RT/UT/MPI/DPI) on body castings/forgings, dimensional inspection, hydrostatic shell and seat test per API 6D/API 598, and fire-safe test per API 607. A full ITP (Inspection Test Plan) is issued prior to manufacturing start.
Why is Alloy 625 used as seat pocket overlay on large bore ball valves?
Alloy 625 (UNS N06625) is a nickel-chromium-molybdenum-niobium superalloy with outstanding corrosion resistance to seawater, chlorides, H2S, and produced fluids. Weld overlaying the seat pockets of a carbon steel body with Alloy 625 provides the corrosion resistance of a premium alloy at the critical seating surface while keeping overall valve cost manageable versus a solid Alloy 625 or Duplex body. The overlay thickness is typically 3mm minimum per WPS, with hardness and disbond tested per NDE procedure.
