Notes
- Float traps are sensitive to water hammer; install with adequate drip leg volume and avoid direct discharge from high-velocity steam into trap.
- Back pressure must not exceed 80% of inlet pressure; higher back pressure causes float to remain depressed and trap to flood.
- Bimetallic air vent opens on cold start-up and closes at ~100°C; for systems with high non-condensable gas load, specify balanced-pressure capsule vent.
- For superheated steam above 350°C, specify SS316 body and Inconel float with extended bonnet to protect vent from radiant heat.
- Trap must be installed with float chamber vertical and flow direction as marked; horizontal installation requires special float guide and must be specified.
