10. General Notes

  1. Thermodynamic traps operate cyclically on kinetic velocity principles, robustly purging hot condensate from main headers.
  2. Float & Thermostatic traps discharge condensate continuously at steam temperature, ideal for heat exchangers.
  3. Inverted bucket traps are highly resistant to water hammer and can be used on high back-pressure condensate systems.
  4. Steam traps must be installed with y-strainers upstream to prevent particulates from scoring the valve seats.
