Notes
- Y-strainer pressure drop at clean condition should be <0.05 bar; size for maximum flow to avoid excessive DP at high load.
- Blow-off valve must be opened slowly with downstream isolated to prevent pressurised debris discharge and operator injury.
- For sea water or corrosive service, specify CF8M (SS316) body and screen with cathodic protection or rubber lining.
- Screen must be inspected after first 48 hours of operation; initial construction debris often loads screen rapidly.
- For high-temperature service above 300°C, specify Inconel wire mesh to prevent oxidation of SS316 mesh.
