Frequently Asked Questions

What is the advantage of direct acting over pilot operated?

Direct acting solenoid valves do not require any line pressure to operate. They can open and close against full vacuum or zero pressure, making them ideal for instrumentation, medical devices, fuel systems, and any application where system pressure is unreliable or variable.

What is the maximum pressure for direct acting valves?

The DAS Series is rated up to 16 bar. However, note that direct acting valves have lower maximum orifice sizes than pilot operated valves at equivalent power. For very high flow at high pressure, pilot operated valves are recommended.

Can direct acting valves be used for vacuum?

Yes, direct acting valves are the best choice for vacuum applications because they do not rely on system pressure to assist opening. The DAS Series can operate from full vacuum (0 bar absolute) up to the maximum rated pressure.

What is the response time?

Response time for the DAS Series is typically 15-50ms for energization and 15-50ms for de-energization, depending on size and voltage. This makes them suitable for fast-cycling applications.
