What is a 5/3 hand lever valve?
A 5/3 hand lever valve has 5 ports and 3 positions, operated by a mechanical lever. The operator moves the lever left or right to shift the valve, and the center position stops the cylinder. It provides manual control equivalent to a 5/3 solenoid valve.
What is the difference between spring center and detented?
Spring center returns the lever and valve spool to the center position automatically when the operator releases it. Detented (stay-put) holds the lever in the selected position until the operator manually moves it again.
Can a 5/3 hand lever valve hold a cylinder mid-stroke?
Yes, the center position of a 5/3 valve blocks all ports (in center closed configuration), which traps air in the cylinder chambers and holds the position. Note that this is not a certified safety lock - leakage or external forces can still move the cylinder.
