What is a NAB ball valve?
A NAB ball valve is a ball valve with body, ball, and end connectors made from Nickel Aluminium Bronze (NAB), specifically ASTM B148 C95800. The stem is typically stainless steel 316 and seats are PTFE. NAB ball valves provide excellent seawater corrosion resistance.
What is the difference between NAB and bronze ball valves?
NAB ball valves have superior corrosion resistance compared to standard bronze. NAB contains aluminium and nickel which form a protective oxide layer. NAB has higher tensile strength (585 MPa vs 240 MPa for bronze) and is preferred for critical seawater applications.
What sizes are available?
NAB ball valves are available from 1/2" (DN15) to 6" (DN150) in 2-piece design. End connections include screwed (BSP/NPT) and flanged. Larger sizes up to 12" available in 3-piece or trunnion mounted design.
