What is NAMUR mounting?
NAMUR (VDI/VDE 3845) is a standardized interface that allows solenoid valves to be mounted directly onto pneumatic actuators without tubing. The solenoid valve bolts to the actuator's NAMUR pad, and internal air passages connect the valve ports to the actuator chambers.
What is the difference between NAMUR 3/2 and 5/2?
3/2 NAMUR valves are used with single-acting (spring return) actuators. 5/2 NAMUR valves are used with double-acting actuators. Using the wrong configuration will prevent proper actuator operation.
Can any actuator accept a NAMUR valve?
The actuator must have a NAMUR pad machined according to VDI/VDE 3845. Most modern rack & pinion and scotch yoke actuators have this feature. Linear diaphragm or piston actuators typically do not have NAMUR pads.
