Frequently Asked Questions

What is a push-pull pneumatic valve?

A push-pull valve is the simplest form of pneumatic directional valve - pushing the actuator connects supply to the outlet; pulling it disconnects and exhausts the downstream line. These are used for simple on/off functions: pneumatic air dump (release air from a line); supply isolation for maintenance; manual cylinder advancement; and as emergency dump valves in pneumatic circuits. They are low cost, reliable, and require no electrical power.

Where are push-pull valves typically used in pneumatic systems?

Push-pull valves are used where simple, low-cost pneumatic control is sufficient: in-line air dump valves for pneumatic tools; supply shut-off valves at the point of use; manual blow-down valves for tank or pipeline venting; pilot signal selectors for circuit testing; and simple on/off control for cylinder extension in non-critical applications. They are not suitable for complex circuits requiring multi-position control or precise positioning.
