UL/FM Butterfly Valve — Hand Lever Operated

UL Listed / FM Approved lever-operated butterfly valve with integral supervisory tamper switch for fire sprinkler, hydrant, and standpipe systems.

This hand-lever butterfly valve is UL Listed and FM Approved for fire-protection service per NFPA 13, 14, and 20. The lever (with locking positions) suits smaller line sizes, and an integral supervisory tamper switch signals valve position to the fire alarm panel so the system always knows the valve is open.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why must fire-protection valves be UL Listed / FM Approved?

NFPA codes and most authorities having jurisdiction (AHJ) require UL Listed and/or FM Approved valves in fire-protection systems to ensure they have been independently tested for reliability under fire-service conditions.

What is the tamper switch for?

The supervisory tamper switch monitors the valve position and signals the fire alarm panel if the valve is moved from fully open, ensuring the sprinkler/standpipe system is never inadvertently isolated.

When is a lever used instead of a gear operator?

A hand lever is typically used up to about DN200 for quick quarter-turn operation; larger valves use a gear operator with a handwheel for controllable, lower-effort actuation.
