What is a control valve?
A control valve modulates flow, pressure, temperature, or level by varying the size of the flow passage in response to a controller signal (typically 4–20 mA via a positioner and actuator). It is the final control element in a process control loop.
How do you size a control valve?
Control valves are sized by calculating the required flow coefficient (Cv/Kv) from the flow rate, pressure drop, and fluid properties, then selecting a body/trim that gives good rangeability and avoids cavitation, flashing, and excessive noise. Our team performs full sizing on request.
Pneumatic or electric actuator — which should I choose?
Pneumatic actuators are preferred for fast, modulating, and fail-safe control where instrument air is available; electric actuators suit remote locations without air and high-thrust on/off or slow modulating duty.
