Ductile Iron Body — Why It Is Specified
UL/FM listed fire protection valves in Kuwait are universally ductile iron (ASTM A536 Grade 65-45-12) with FBE (fusion bonded epoxy) internal and external coating. The FBE coating provides corrosion resistance in humid Gulf environments, extends service life, and is required by many Kuwait Civil Defense inspection checklists.
300 PSI Working Pressure
Kuwait fire protection systems operate at city water pressure (typically 4–7 bar) but valves are rated 300 PSI (20.7 bar) — a mandatory safety margin factor of approximately 3-4x above normal operating pressure. This 300 PSI rating is the UL/FM listed pressure and must appear on the valve nameplate.
Tamper Switch / Supervisory Switch
OS&Y gate valves on NFPA 13 systems require a supervisory signal that alerts the fire alarm panel if the valve is not fully open. This is achieved via a tamper switch (supervisory switch) wired to the fire alarm control panel. All our UL 262 OS&Y valves have tamper switch provisions per NFPA 72.

Are Indian-supplied UL listed fire valves accepted by Kuwait Civil Defense?
Yes — Kuwait Civil Defense accepts UL listed and FM approved valves regardless of country of manufacture, provided the valve carries a valid UL listing number traceable to the UL product directory. India-manufactured UL listed valves from approved manufacturers are fully accepted.
What is the difference between UL 262 and UL 1091 for fire protection valves?
UL 262 covers OS&Y (Outside Screw and Yoke) gate valves used for water supply isolation in fire protection systems. UL 1091 covers butterfly valves used for the same function. Both are rated 300 PSI and require ductile iron body.
Can I get both UL and FM approved valves from one supplier?
