Choosing between a 3-valve and a 5-valve manifold
A 3-valve manifold has two block valves (high and low side) and one equalising valve. It lets you isolate a differential pressure transmitter and equalise both sides to check zero. A 5-valve manifold adds two vent or bleed valves, so the transmitter can be depressurised, drained and calibrated in place without breaking connections. Five-valve manifolds are the usual choice for gas and steam flow measurement and for hazardous fluids where venting must be controlled.
For pressure gauges and single-point pressure transmitters, a 2-valve manifold (block and bleed) is enough. Where the specification calls for double isolation at the tapping point on hydrocarbon or high-pressure lines, a double block and bleed monoflange gives two isolation valves and a bleed in one compact flanged body, cutting weight and leak points compared with a gate valve and separate needle valves.

What are instrumentation valves?
Instrumentation valves are small-bore valves used to isolate, vent, equalise and throttle the impulse lines that connect process piping to pressure gauges, transmitters and analysers. They include needle valves, root valves, manifolds, monoflanges, gauge valves and instrument ball valves.
What is the difference between a 3-valve and a 5-valve manifold?
A 3-valve manifold has two block valves and an equalising valve. A 5-valve manifold adds two vent / bleed valves so the transmitter can be depressurised and calibrated in place. Five-valve manifolds are common on gas and steam DP flow measurement.
What pressure rating do SS316 needle valves have?
