  • Liquid nitrogen/oxygen
  • Cryogenic storage

LCB / LCC (Low-Carbon Steel)

ASTM A352 grades for low-temperature carbon steel service. Impact tested to -46°C (LCB) or -59°C (LCC). Cost-effective for LPG and moderate cryogenic service.

  • LPG storage
  • Ethylene plants
  • Cold climate pipelines
  • Refrigeration circuits

A350 LF2 Forged Steel

Impact-tested forged steel for small-bore cryogenic valves. Used in instrument lines, vent systems, and sample points on LNG facilities.

  • LNG instrument piping
  • Cryogenic vent systems
  • Sample points
  • Small-bore isolation

Frequently Asked Questions

Why do cryogenic valves need extended bonnets?
Extended bonnets create a thermal gradient between the cryogenic media in the body and the packing gland at the top of the bonnet. This prevents the packing from freezing (which would cause leakage and loss of stem sealing) and prevents ice formation on external surfaces. BS 6364 specifies minimum extension lengths based on pipe size and operating temperature.
What is the difference between BS 6364 and MSS SP-134?
BS 6364 is the British Standard for cryogenic valve testing, requiring valves to be tested at liquid nitrogen temperature (-196°C) for seat and body tightness. MSS SP-134 is the US equivalent (Manufacturers Standardization Society). Both standards cover design, testing, and marking of cryogenic valves. BS 6364 is more widely specified internationally, especially in LNG projects.
Can you supply cryogenic valves for LNG projects in Qatar and Middle East?
Yes. We supply cryogenic valves for LNG projects across the Middle East, including Qatar, UAE, Oman, and Saudi Arabia. Our cryogenic valves are used in LNG loading/unloading, storage tank circuits, vaporizer systems, and BOG (boil-off gas) handling. We provide full documentation packages including BS 6364 test certificates, PMI reports, and 3.1 material certificates.
What seat material is used in cryogenic ball valves?
PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene) is the most common seat material for cryogenic ball valves, rated to -200°C. PCTFE (Kel-F) offers superior dimensional stability at cryogenic temperatures and is preferred for critical LNG applications. For metal-seated cryogenic ball valves, Stellite #6 overlay provides zero-leakage at both cryogenic and elevated temperatures.
Do cryogenic valves require special maintenance?
Cryogenic valves require periodic inspection of the extended bonnet packing, seat tightness verification, and checking for external ice formation (which indicates packing failure). We recommend scheduled helium leak testing during plant turnarounds. Our valves are designed with top-entry or bolted-bonnet construction for in-line maintenance without pipeline removal.
