Product Overview

The Supreme Valves 2-inch Class 600 Ball Valve is API 6D certified, designed for severe service in oil & gas pipelines, petrochemical plants, and refinery applications across Saudi Arabia and the Middle East. The Carbon Steel ASTM A216 WCB body provides robust pressure containment while the SS316 ball and trim ensure reliable seating in corrosive service.

The flanged ASME B16.5 RF (Raised Face) ends ensure leak-free installation with standard companion flanges. The gear operator provides smooth, controlled operation with mechanical advantage for reliable operation at full pressure differential. The full port design minimizes pressure drop when open, making it suitable for pigging operations in pipeline applications.

With a Class 600 rating of 1440 PSI at ambient temperature, this valve handles high-pressure pipelines, process headers, and hydrocarbon service common in Saudi Arabian oil and gas facilities. Anti-static grounding ensures safe operation in flammable service per API 6D requirements.

Applications

Features & Benefits

Anti-Static Device

Spring-loaded grounding contact bonds ball to body for safe operation with flammable hydrocarbons per API 6D requirements.

Blowout-Proof Stem

Forged stem retainer prevents stem ejection under pressure, ensuring operator safety in high-pressure applications.

Full Port Design

Ball bore equals pipe ID for minimal pressure drop and compatibility with pipeline pigging operations.

ISO 5211 Mounting

Standard actuator mounting flange allows easy automation with pneumatic or electric actuators when required.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between API 600 and API 6D ball valves?

API 600 covers steel gate, globe, and check valves for petroleum refining service, while API 6D specifically covers pipeline valves including ball valves, gate valves, and check valves. For ball valves, API 6D is the primary standard and includes requirements for shell integrity, seat leakage, stem sealing, and anti-static devices specific to quarter-turn valves. API 6D ball valves undergo more rigorous testing including high-pressure gas testing and fire-safe testing per API 607 or ISO 10497.

Why use gear operation instead of lever for a 2-inch ball valve?

Gear operators are used on ball valves when the valve must operate against high differential pressure across the disc (high torque), when precise throttling control is needed, or when the valve is installed in locations where lever operation would be awkward or unsafe. For Class 600 ball valves, the higher seating loads required to maintain bubble-tight shut-off at 1440 PSI result in significantly higher breakaway and running torque compared to Class 150 valves. Gear operators provide mechanical advantage (typically 4:1 or 6:1 ratio) to ensure reliable operation with manageable handwheel effort.

What is anti-static device and why is it required?

An anti-static device (ASD) is a grounding mechanism that electrically bonds the ball to the valve body through a spring-loaded contact. This prevents static charge buildup on the ball, which could create a spark hazard when the valve is used with flammable hydrocarbons or gases. API 6D mandates anti-static devices for all ball valves used in flammable service.

Can this ball valve be used for throttling service?

While ball valves are primarily designed for on-off (full open or full closed) service, they can be used for limited throttling applications. The full port design minimizes pressure drop when partially open. However, for continuous throttling, the high velocity flow through the restricted port can cause localized erosion of the seats. We recommend ball valves only for intermittent throttling or when the valve will spend most time in the fully open position.

Export to Saudi Arabia & Middle East

Supreme Valves exports Class 600 ball valves throughout the Middle East oil and gas sector. Our API 6D certified valves meet the requirements of Saudi Aramco, SABIC, and ADNOC procurement specifications. Complete documentation packages include material test reports (MTR), hydrostatic test certificates, API 607 fire-safe certification, and certificates of conformity for SABER PC registration in Saudi Arabia.
